HAVELLS PUMP- THE UNTOLD STORY OF QRG
QRG stands for Qimat Rai Gupta, Chairman & MD of Havells and Chairman of Sylvania.
In the year 1958, Qimat Rai Gupta after dropping out of school and started an electric trading company in New Delhi.
Later in the year 1971, he acquired Havells brand from Haveli Ram Gandhi
He was often addressed as Bhaisaheb by older people and QRG by other people.
He was no engineer, but a people’s person. He was not an MBA but had all traits of a successful businessman. He was a numerical wizard and could do any calculation using his mind.
He was bestowed with a sharp mind and skill to gel with all kinds of people.
Being born in humble family background single-handedly grew his business empire to USD 2 Billion.
He was always grounded and chose a simple living, far away from the limelight of corporate limelight.
He did not ever let his ego come in the way of business.
He was a very open and transparent person. He was well respected and trusted among all his employees and family members.
He would pick ordinary people and motivate them to do the splendid task. His motto in life, was that if a six feet person comes to meet him, he should feel like he is seven feet while he is leaving him.
He has an innate talent for choosing words that would make break any ice with a stranger.
QRG will happily exit a business if there is any red-tapism or bribery from any government official. He has never compromised with his ethics to run a business.

QRG was toying with the idea of diversifying into various sectors, and he ended at Healthcare since it needed much care. The government was a total failure in providing it to the masses.
He started QRG Health City at Faridabad. He paid a fixed salary to Doctors for fixed-hour jobs, no incentive, or any financial benefits for prescribing any test.

Anil Rai Gupta is the Chairman & MD of Havells. He joined Havells in the year 1992.
He has done graduation in Economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce and an MBA from Wake Forest University, USA.
He is responsible for building Havells, a household Brand. He has modernized the plants and extensively used technology in manufacturing.
He is credited to acquiring Sylvania, which was 1.5 times bigger than Havells at the time of acquisition.
He is responsible for many philanthropy works like providing mid-day meal to 50000 school children.
SURJIT GUPTA
Surjit Gupta is the technical head of Havells. Under his leadership, Havells has become a leading group in the Electrical Industry.

Ameet Kumar Gupta is an Electronics & Communication Engineer from Delhi University. He is responsible for new business development.

5-Sep-2019 Havells marketed India’s First Square pedestal fan. Havells is the leader in the premium fan segment and occupies a 20% market share in India.
17-Sep-2019 Havells appointed Vicky Kaushal as brand ambassador for mens grooming products. Choosing Vicky Kaushal was a very profitable decision, as he is the most talented and promising actor of his generation.
4-Oct-2019 Havells is one of the first Companies among the Electrical Company from India to be a part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (USA).

4-Feb-2020 Lloyd, a subsidiary of Havells, introduces Grande Heavy-duty Air conditioner.
