It was in the year 1976, after passing MSC in physics, he joined a small electronic company in Cochin, Kerala. He was drawing a very meagre salary which was often the subject of discussion among his relatives & family. His father managed to find a Bank’s job for his son through his influence. But, Mr K. Within a year, he learned the trade of business and started his small unit in his garage. V-Guard is the first garage start-up in India when the term itself was unheard.

He hired 2 staff to assist him in the process. He began to assemble stabilizers in his plant.
The market for stabilizer was growing at that time, with the sales of fridges, and there was frequent voltage fluctuation.
He was able to compete with a national player like Tata & Keltron at that time. He took the risk of pricing his stabilizers Rupees 5 higher than an established company.

He approached the bank, many a time for loan, but was turned away. At that time, his father offered him an investment of Rs. 100000.
In 1989, He branded his product as “V Guard”. This name had propped in his mind out of nowhere. First, he thought V for “Voltage”, or it can be anything V for “Victory” or V for “We”.

During the gulf boom, people became affluent and bought fridges along with stabilizers. Later Television revolution started in India that also added to the increase in sales of stabilizers.

He once faced a severe strike and lockdown in his plant, but he did not succumb to the pressure. He outsourced all his assembling work to third party contractor and expanded his production unit to Andhra Pradesh.
